Who We Are

The Canadian Thyroid Cancer Support Group (Thry'vors) is an incorporated non-profit group, operated by volunteers who are themselves affected by thyroid cancer. Thry'vors strive to provide information and support regarding thyroid cancer to patients and their families.

Our Mission

Thry'vors is a national organization of thyroid cancer survivors dedicated to providing emotional support and information to those affected by the disease.

Our Goals and Initiatives

  • To bring together thyroid cancer survivors so that we can learn from each others' experiences.
  • To develop programs and networks that link thyroid cancer survivors with Canadian healthcare professionals specializing in thyroid cancer treatment and research
  • To provide on-line support through our listserv
  • To network with other groups working in the area of thyroid cancer research and education
  • To develop and distribute resource information regarding various aspects of thyroid cancer, including diagnosis, treatment and ongoing monitoring
  • To help promote or organize local, in-person support groups
  • To host an annual conference and annual general meeting

How We Got Started

In 2000, a group of Canadian thyroid cancer survivors met on-line through the listserv of the American Thyroid Cancer Survivors Association (ThyCa) and began an informal support group. What brought us together was the common search for information and support in dealing with our own treatment and recovery. Our experiences showed the need to develop a Canadian support network.
